Round gown
1795-1805
Source Unknown - do let me know if you know it.
Sometime in the 18th century some lucky girl wore this.
Gorgeous color, no?
Looks like a round gown, though I can’t tell for sure. But I’d bet on it - you can’t see a line of separate skirts.

Caveat: It’s a reproduction, but an excellent one. The ladies of the Millinery Shop at Colonial Williamsburg (pictured is one of their journeywomen) absolutely know their stuff.
I have closeups of the gown if anyone wants them (the photos aren’t nearly as nice, but they show a good amount of detail)
Chemise à la reine
1797-1805
Britain
From the V&A
I know I don’t normally post portraits, but this portrait of Mme Seriziat is gorgeous…and a perfect chemise à la reine. (I will also take her husband - those breeches!)
Closed robe (à l’anglaise)
c. 1780
A closed robe, on the other hand, has no separate petticoat. It’s all one piece. You can best see this in the second picture, where you can see how the skirts are attached.
